Historical-fiction novel The Women, by Kristin Hannah, was the most borrowed fiction book. Meanwhile, Braiding Sweetgrass, by Robin Wall Kimmerer, continues to be the must-read nonfiction title 12 years after its publication! For younger readers, teens still have an appetite for the Hunger Games series, while Jeff Kinney’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid series took every spot in the top 10 for middle-grade readers.

The City Library has a total of 663,047 items available for checkout. That’s 517,950 physical materials and 145,097 electronic materials, such as the eBooks and digital audiobooks available through Libby.
The total amount of items borrowed and returned was an amazing 3,066,010, a 7.3% increase from 2024. compared to 2023. By borrowing items from the Library, cardholders and taxpayers saved $59.8 million!
What type of item circulated the most in 2024? Movies! Items from The City Library’s vast collection of DVD/Blu-ray were checked out 364,578 times, which is 130,000 MORE checkouts than last year! A reminder that you can save big on streaming subscriptions and get hard-to-find films that aren’t even available online.
